1. Controller

The controller within the meaning of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is:

2. Purposes of data processing / legal bases

We process your data exclusively for the following purposes:

  • Implementation of the scouting and application process to identify young cycling talent for the Lidl-Trek team.
  • Performance analysis: Evaluation of your sporting key figures (training volume, race results and performance data) to assess your suitability for professional cycling and our scouting program. To make this data available to us, we use the platform Vekta (https://joinvekta.com/). We will send you an access code. As soon as you register yourself with Vekta and approve your profile for our trainers, we can see your performance data.

The legal basis for the processing of your general application data (name, contact data, athletic career) is Article 6 (1) lit. b GDPR, i.e. to initiate an athlete contract.

For your performance and health data (heart rate, cadence, weight, watt values), the legal basis is an express consent according to Article 9 (2) lit. a in conjunction with Article 6 (1) lit. a GDPR.

Important (!):

  • If you are still 15 years old: Your consent is only effective if your parents (or legal guardians) agree. Therefore, in this case, we need the signature of your parents on the application form.
  • If you are already 16 years old: You can give this consent independently.

3. Recipients / categories of recipients

Your data will be treated with strict confidentiality. Only the persons of the Lidl-Trek team responsible for scouting (e.g. sports directors, trainers, scouting coordinators) will have access to your data. A transfer to third parties outside of Lidl-Trek does not take place.

Note for transparency: To provide your performance data, you register independently with our partner Vekta, which processes this data as an independent controller under data protection law and only allows our trainers to view it based on your permission.

4. Storage duration / criteria for specifying the storage duration

We store your data for the duration of the active scouting process. As soon as you are 19 years old, and therefore have grown out of the junior category, and it is clear that no contract will be concluded, your personal data and the uploaded performance file will be deleted immediately, but at the latest within 6 months after completion of the process. If the application is successful, the data will be transferred to your athlete file.

5. Data Subject Rights

You have the following rights under the GDPR:

  • Information (Art. 15 GDPR): You can find out what data we store about you.
  • Correction (Art. 16 GDPR) & Deletion (Art. 17 GDPR): You can correct errors or request deletion.
  • Restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR) & data portability (Art. 20 GDPR).
  • Right of withdrawal (Article 7 (3) GDPR): You can withdraw your consent to the processing of your health data at any time with effect for the future. From the time of the revocation, we can no longer consider your performance data in the scouting process.
  • Right to file a complaint (Article 77 GDPR): You have the right to file a complaint with the data protection supervisory authority.
